The Building Has Begun!

Thanks to your generous donations, the West Tisbury Free Public Library’s renovation and expansion project is in full swing! Ground has been broken, concrete has been poured, and hammers are banging as we speak. The site will remain a Hard Hat area till December of 2013. Then it will be time to start moving books and furniture into place for a Grand Opening in early 2014.

Celebrating and looking to the future: Our Library begins to grow!

Flags waved, dignitaries spoke, and a lot of hot mulled cider kept the crowd warm during the groundbreaking ceremony, held outdoors on December 12, 2012 (at 12 noon). There was music and song, there was poetry, and even an Honor Guard by the West Tisbury Police Department. Children broke ground with great gusto at their own ceremony later that afternoon. As young and old came out to mark the historic occasion, our normally reserved library director, Beth Kramer, was grinning from earring to earring. Selectman Skipper Manter came equipped to dig the entire foundation single-handedly.

Chronicle of a Capital Campaign

Photo chronicle of the Capital Campaign. From receiving the grant in 2011, and prize-winning historian David McCullough speaking to a full-capacity Agricultural Hall to launch the campaign, numerous talented authors speaking to appreciative audiences, musicians playing sold-out venues, to very young volunteers selling lemonade, West Tisbury Library Foundation is truly grateful for all your support.
